Rising bigotry towards immigrants is spawning fear and anxiety that permeate the lives of children who are just trying to get through school in the country they call home. After the 2016 election, filmmakers Ellen Bruno and Jay Rosenblatt put out a call to filmmakers nationwide soliciting short films to be curated into a program called Filmmakers Unite. There were no restrictions on subject matter, viewpoint, style, or genre-- only that the film be a reaction to the Trump presidency. This is My Country was among the films chosen, and Filmmakers Unite screened at festivals around the world.
